Moore County Biggest Winner At This Year's U.S. Open

MOORE COUNTY, N.C. — It looks like the big winner at this year's U.S. Open was Moore County.
The golf tournament set attendance records, with more than 40,000 spectators a day. That figure pushed hotels to record levels of their own.
Countywide, revenues were 40 percent higher than the last time the Open came to town in 1999 and 350 percent higher than June 2004.
Another reason for the boost, officials say, is that the county had more rooms available, this time going for higher rates.
