RALEIGH, N.C. — Local children in need have a new place to play.

On Wednesday, about 250 volunteers helped build a new playground for

The Healing Place of Wake County

, a non-profit organization that helps homeless people with substance abuse problems.

The group rolled up its sleeves to build fences, install equipment, and help with the landscaping.

The playground is part of The Healing Place's new women's facility in North Raleigh.

The women's facility helps homeless women and their children.
