KNIGHTDALE, N.C. — A single-engine ultralight plane crashed near the Raleigh East Airport Saturday night shortly after taking off.
Investigators said the pilot, Martin Lunsford of Clayton, had just taken off when the plane's engine failed.
The ultralight plane fell about 150 feet and landed near Three Sisters Road beside the
Raleigh East Airport
in Knightdale.
Lunsford was taken to WakeMed, where he was listed in fair condition Sunday afternoon.
