RALEIGH, N.C. — Some drivers had to avoid more than cars for their morning commute on Tuesday.

Pigs falling from a moving livestock truck caused traffic to slow down near the Gorman Street exit.

The driver of the tractor-trailer told animal control officers he had no idea the back of his truck came open. According to drivers, the trouble started around Rock Quarry Road and continued until the driver was stopped near Gorman Street.

One pig was found alive, but seven were dead.

The Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Division is investigating. The truck driver was headed to Griswold, Iowa.
