Durham Post Office Won't Require Curbside Mailboxes

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — It appears the U.S. Postal Service is backing out of a mailbox battle in Durham.

The postal service wanted to send letters ordering people moving into homes that get doorway service to put up curbside mailboxes.

If they did not, the post office would hold the mail for two weeks and then return it to sender.

Now, the postal service says it will recommend curbside mailboxes for new homeowners, but not require them.
