Fayetteville Property Company Under Federal Investigation

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A property company accused of selling land without clear title is under investigation.

The FBI, Internal Revenue Service and State Bureau of Investigation seized materials from Carriage Crossing in Fayetteville.

Authorities would not say what crimes they suspect or whether the search is related to allegations two years ago.

In 2003, the North Carolina attorney general's office sued the company, saying it sold hundreds of parcels of land with legal strings attached. That case is still pending.
