GREENVILLE, N.C. — The Pitt County Sheriff's Office said a missing 11-year-old girl was found after a WRAL-TV viewer saw her picture on TV and called police.
Authorities said Lekeyshia Barfield left with her mother, Tawanda Barfield, 26, and her mother's boyfriend, Jesse Gallo, 22, on Aug. 1. When the girl never returned to her grandfather, who has legal custody, on Aug. 4, he notified authorities.
Gallo was wanted by the Pitt County Sheriff's Office for indecent liberties with a minor.
The viewer, who saw the girl's photo on the WRAL Noon News, called Kenly police and the mother and Gallo were arrested. Police said the girl was not harmed.
