Friday is now a WRAL Weather Alert Day. Parts of Hoke, Cumberland and Sampson counties are under a level 2 risk for storms Friday afternoon and evening. The biggest threat will be damaging winds and heavy rain, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out in our southern counties. The storms are expected to impact these areas from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Loria Williams has been hired as the new Hertford County manager.

Williams, who was investigated into her use of inmate labor, was fired in July because of her job performance in Warren County.
