Mother Accused Of Killing Adopted Daughter To Go To Court In October

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake Forest mother accused of beating her adopted Russian daughter to death will have her first court appearance in October.

Investigators believe Peggy Hilt punched and hit her daughter, Nina Hilt, at their Wake Forest home in early July and then drove to a relative's house in Virginia where the child died.

A hearing in October will determine if there is enough evidence for the case to go to trial.

Representatives from the National Council for Adoption are expected to travel to Russia to keep lawmakers there from imposing a temporary halt on international adoptions.
