RALEIGH, N.C. — A former Wake County sheriff's deputy faces felony charges that allege he seduced a teenage boy online and then raped him at the boy's home.
Police say Steven Diver, 32, posed as a 20-year old in an Internet chat room.
They say he corresponded with a 15-year-old boy for several days before going to his Cary home last week.
Diver, who changed his name from Carl Schiskey in 2003 -- three years after he left the Wake County Sheriff's Office -- is charged with statutory rape and taking indecencies with a minor.
