Hunter Finds Body in Lee County Woods

SANFORD, N.C. — A hunter checking a deerstand found a body in the woods of northwest Lee County late Thursday, authorities said.

The body of Thomas Matthew Coore, 23, of Pittsboro, was found about 300 yards off Gilliam Road, authorities said. He appeared to have been stabbed, but investigators are awaiting an autopsy report to determine the cause of death, authorities said.
