RALEIGH, N.C. — There are new developments in the Wake County schools transportation department investigation.
The Wake County School Board's attorney said a former employee has now signed a written confession to taking part in a fraud scheme.
The attorney said Angela Malloy Sanders has promised to pay back $40,000.
Malloy Sanders has already turned over furniture and electronics that the school system said was part of the scheme.
School officials believe former employees worked with managers at a parts company to siphon millions of dollars from the school system over several years.
No criminal charges have been filed, but charges are expected this summer.
