RALEIGH, N.C. — High Point native Fantasia Barrino will be one of the acts at this fall's N.C. State Fair, officials announced Wednesday.

Barrino, winner of the third season of the "American Idol" contest, will appear on Thursday, Oct. 20.

American music icon Kenny Rogers will also play at the fair on Oct. 18.

"We are thrilled about our entertainment lineup for the 2005 State Fair," said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. "Fairgoers have been asking for bigger and better concerts for many years, and we think we are delivering a great lineup while keeping prices affordable."

The concert series kicks off Friday, Oct. 14, with high-powered country duo Montgomery Gentry. On Saturday, Oct. 15, rising country star Dierks Bentley will share the stage with Texas-based Cross Canadian Ragweed. Edwin McCain takes the stage on Sunday, Oct. 16, singing his hit "I'll Be" along with many others. Newcomer Josh Gracin will bring his brand of high-energy country music to Dorton Arena on Monday, Oct. 17.

Fairgoers can purchase reserved tickets online at www.ncstatefair.org beginning Tuesday, Sept. 6, at noon. Concert tickets range in price from $5 to $20 depending on the show. There is a $2 discount on all tickets priced $10 and over if bought in advance.

Reserved concert tickets will also be on sale at the Dorton Arena ticket booth during the 2005 State Fair unless the show sells out beforehand. Fair admission will be required for all shows and there will be no free seating available.

Concert tickets will only be available online before the Fair starts. All shows start at 7:30 p.m. Doors open an hour before each show.
