1 Killed, 2 Injured in Raleigh Accident
One person was killed and two others were injured Saturday evening when two cars collided head-on on Lake Wheeler Road.

Tiana Hartley, 26, was killed about 7:40 p.m. when an oncoming car made a left turn in front of the car she was riding in yesterday. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the other car, Anthony Pirotta, is charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle, failing to yield right of way, and driving without a license. He and another person were also injured in the collision.

Part of Lake Wheeler Road near I-40 was closed for more than two hours as authorities investigated the accident.

When I heard of this accident I thought " this has got to be a very rough moment for the family of the young woman ". It never occured to me at the time that this young lady was my former neighbor. Tiana was a very caring and loving mother to her children and my heart goes out to them and her extended family. I am still in disbelief . She was also a very good friend to my son, Jon. She gave him many words of advice. He too was devestated when he heard the news. He spent many days talking with Tiana and Phil. My heart goes out to the family and I will continue to pray her children and family.

The female that was killed in the accident was my uncle's girlfriend and she had two little children and one that happens to be my little cousin. I feel that the driver's lack of judgement will follow him for the rest of his life. The pain that my uncle is going through and the pain that the kids are going to have to go through is going to be hard but the driver's pain will never compare because he has his life and loved ones.

A loss of a life is always a tragedy. I know this because my aunt and uncle were both killed by a drunk driver in a 18 wheeler while he was on the job. He wore a neck brace in court even though he had not even been treated in the hospital, and had not a scratch. My aunt and uncle's car on the other hand, was unrecognizable. It IS of course different when you KNOW the person that was driving the car that kills someone. And KNOW that person is a caring individual and would never intentionally harm anyone...right now I am looking for my friend and unable to find him- If anyone has any information please e-mail me. I know that if he IS ok, that he probably is having a very hard time comprehending what he has just been through, and would like some support seeing as though his family are not in the area. I just don't think we should judge people for one act of "careless"ness, that any person at some point in their lives are guilty of themselves. MY prayers go out to everyone involved.

It is sad I lost a realclose friend of mine Thursday Morning. He was a great DR>

I hope the famly is doing ok
