A man who Durham police say fired at a police officer and Emergency Medical Services personnel is in custody.

Police said Keyone Dewone Goldston surrendered on Saturday while police were looking for him.

He faces a charge of assault with a firearm on a law enforcement officer for allegedly firing the shots on Friday, when the officer was assisting EMS personnel with a patient about 10 p.m. Police said Goldston, 28, of 407 E. Maynard Ave., appeared at the scene and shot twice at the officer and EMS personnel, then ran away.

Here we go again,Is it not my right to voice my opinion about things I see going on in this country? Is it not my right to point out things like overuse of power? Is it not my right to speak on officers (who have made this career decision) who use their power for their own self interest? I am supposed to just sit back and sympathize with family members of officers who are paid to do a job they signed up to do? Your family member chose this life. Do not speak harshly of others who are using the same right you are using to criticize those of us who are speaking on what we see. If you are that upset about your family member being on duty, ask them to get another job because it has definitely warped your sense of reason. I mean really, on one side you say, "dont talk about my husband, hes doing this to make you safe". Then on the other hand you say, "I have the right to defend my husband from you name callers". Really, your husband is doing this so that you can sit at home and harass peopl

Some people are just plain crazy.

Bring it on Nifong and screw this one up pretty boy !

Just your typical night in the dump we know as Durham! Seriously though this idiot needs to be caught and put behind bars for a long long time!

osbjmg, I am glad that not everyone puts officers down but this is the only time in the past few weeks that they haven't been put down. Did you read the posts when the students were fighting and an officer tazered one of them, the posts were nothing but put downs and comments like 'trigger happy'were used alot. I am glad that noone is blaming the officer or the EMS worker but I know some idiot probably will just to be funny. I am so glad that neither the officer or the EMS worker were hurt and hopefully the family didn't hear anything until they knew their loved one was ok. It is like living in a horror film when someone calls you to say that your husband was hurt in the line of duty and not know anything else. What makes it worse is when you are 9 months pregnant and you can't get in touch with your husband or anyone else for 2 hours. I have been there and it is a living hell. Think about the wives and families before you make such hateful comments as the ones I've seen.(aka - ktncnn
