Shot Fired During Sanford Bank Holdup

SANFORD, N.C. — A Sanford bank was robbed by a man who fired at least one shot inside the bank, authorities said.

The RBC Centura Bank on South Horner Boulevard was held up by an armed man at about 1:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Inside the bank, the robber fired at least one shot from his gun. There were no injuries.

Authorities said that the man was with a female accomplice.

Some money was recovered at the Sanford Honda car dealership near the bank. Police said the robber fled in a red or white car that is similar to a Honda Civic.

The man is described as black, wearing an Afro-style wig and sunglasses, approximately 25-30 years old and 6 feet tall with a medium build. The woman is described as black, wearing a bandana and sunglasses, is 25-30 years old, 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build.

The North Carolina Bankers Association is offering up to $5,000 reward for indictment and conviction of the suspect.
