Posted Updated

VANCE COUNTY, N.C. — A woman was listed in fair condition at a UNC-Chapel Hill hospital on Wednesday after she was injured Tuesday morning in Vance County when the car she was driving ran off a road, flipped and ended up near a creek.

Authorities said Sheila Terry, 53, of Kittrell, was traveling east on Kittrell College Road when the car started to go off the road to the right. Terry then overcorrected and crossed to the left, hitting a wooden bridge rail, authorities said.

Her car dropped 30 feet, flipped and landed on its roof, with Terry trapped inside.

Rescue crews worked for nearly two hours to free her.
