CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Water pressure and service for UNC Hospital was affected by a ruptured water line Wednesday morning.

Just before 9 a.m., a 20-inch water line was accidentally cut by an outside contractor near UNC Hospital.

Orange Water and Sewer Authority has isolated where the break happened and is trying to assess what facilities are affected.

The cut has affected water pressure and service for the hospital complex and the campus area.

The Town of Chapel Hill was not been significantly affected.

Orange County fire companies have their tanker trucks on standby in case a fire problem arises in the area.
