ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. — A sheriff's department is facing questions involving corruption and money.
Last week, federal and state agents seized computers and documents from the Robeson County sheriff's office. They want to find out how drug officers used money confiscated during investigations.
Over the last decade, drug officers seized millions of dollars along Interstate 95 and in drug raids throughout the county. It is not clear how much of that money is at issue in this case.
Robeson County District Attorney Johnson Britt said investigators watched the drug division for years, and he expects the case is far from over.
WRAL has learned the drug division has roughly eight officers. It is not known how many are under investigation, but WRAL has found that agents are interested in three former deputies as well.
