RALEIGH, N.C. — Homeowner's insurance rates for North Carolina's coast are going up, but, it could have been worse.
Insurance Commissioner Jim Long Friday approved rate increases of 10 to 15 percent in coastal counties.
That's still far less than the 50 percent hike requested by the insurance industry.
Triangle homeowner's rates will stay the same.
