Wake High School Juniors Will Get To Leave Campus For Lunch

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Juniors in Wake County will get to keep their lunch privileges.

Seniors had the exclusive right to leave campus for lunch.

Now juniors get the option because school cafeterias are overcrowded.

School board members say they have to stick with the policy.

All but three high schools allow juniors to leave for lunch.

At least 53 accidents have been reported at Wake County Schools during the lunch period this school year.

The numbers aren't complete, but the school system can say that at least 8 of those accidents involved juniors.

Six schools have reported zero accidents. Millbrook is one of them.

Apex High School had the highest numbers, reporting 20 accidents since last fall.
