SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. — On two different occasions, criminals tried to commit crimes at La Costena, a convenience store in Sampson County. Both times, the store clerks fought them off.
In August, Maria Martinez bit a man trying to kidnap her. Deputies caught him soon after.
Recently, Adrian Ruiz hit a would-be robber over the head and chased him out the front door.
Investigators are still looking for that suspect.
Even though no one was hurt, investigators recommend people cooperate with robbers, not fight back.
