RALEIGH, N.C. — A CD from a WRAL-TV anchor has made its way to the top of the world music charts.

"Peaceful Journey: A Celebration of North Carolina" was written and produced by WRAL anchor Bill Leslie. After finishing third in November on the charts for new age and world music, Leslie's album took over the No. 1 in December.

"Peaceful Journey" was also named one of the top 10 CDs of 2004 by world music critic R.J. Lannon, who called the album a "gorgeous contemporary blend of New Age instrumentals and Celtic ensemble pieces."

The album was inspired by Leslie's trips to scenic places such as Ocracoke, Roan Mountain and Lake Mattamuskeet. A video version of the CD will be released in March in a joint effort by WRAL-TV and WUNC-TV.

The rankings are based on global reports from radio stations that play Celtic, New Age and ambient music.
