RALEIGH — Road rage erupted on a busy Raleigh street and ended with a shooting on Interstate 40 Saturday night.
The 21-year-old victim was in the back of an SUV when he was shot in the face by another motorist. Investigators say five other young men were also inside the SUV. They were not hurt. They were driving toward Smithfield on I-40 when men in another car fired shots at them.
The driver of the SUV pulled over at a Burger King parking lot in Clayton to call for help. Police are still looking for the suspects.
Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison is heading up the investigation because the road rage began in Raleigh. The victim is in good condition.
Sheriff Harrison says they are looking for three men in an older white Ford Tempo with gray primer spots and a North Carolina license plate.
