Tuesday did not start well for some Fayetteville residents. Someone broke windows on their cars and homes.

Police said the vandals struck early, hitting houses and vehicles.

"As I came out from the house, I realized that the [rear] window of our minivan was broken," vandalism victim Kong Namkung said.

Namkung took his minivan to the repair shop. Other residents landed in the same situation. Most of the attacks took place near Morganton Road between Van Story Hills and Huntington Park.

Namkung thinks someone used a BB gun, but another victim suspects marbles. However, police are not ruling anything out.

"Apparently, no one saw any type of brick or anything like that thrown at the cars, so it's unsure what was actually used to break the windows," said Jamie Smith, of the Fayetteville Police Department.

Officers say no one has reported any stolen items. They do not believe the vandalism is related to more than 30 cases of window-smashing reported recently in Harnett County.
