<b>DURHAM, N.C.</b> — Durham police are investigating a deadly shooting.

Officers found the body of 34-year old Billy Joel McCullough around 11 p.m. Wednesday. He was lying in the yard of a duplex on Evergreen Street.

McCullough's mother told WRAL police said her son was trying to break in to the house when the homeowner shot him to death.

Investigators refuse to comment on the circumstances surrounding McCullough's death.
