HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Orange County investigators made an arrest Tuesday in the case against vandals who spray-painted a Hillsborough church with hate signs.

Henry Flinn, 20, is charged with property damage and ethnic intimidation.

It turns out the suspect turned himself in to the pastor of Cross Roads Baptist Church before his arrest.

"The young guy, that I understand they arrested, called me on Saturday morning and asked if I would talk with him," Pastor Philip Moore said.

Moore said Flinn visited his home and spoke with him, but would not admit to the vandalism.

"I'm hoping that he'll admit to doing it so that there will be an indication he's sorry for what he has done and he maybe wants to turn his life around," Moore said.

Flinn was released from jail Tuesday on $800 bond.
