Town To Address ZIP Code Confusion

Posted Updated

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. — Dozens of addresses and ZIP codes in Apex, Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs do not match up, leaving some residents in limbo.

The DiScalas just bought their dream home in Holly Springs --or so they thought.

Their home sits on Holly Springs' expanding east side. According to the U.S. Postal Service, it is a Fuquay-Varina ZIP code.

"We can't change our drivers licenses because we don't know which town to put on there ... it's been frustrating," Eliza DiScala said. "All I want is to go out to my mailbox and get mail."

The DiScalas changed their checks to a Holly Springs address, then they corrected it to Fuquay-Varina address. Their address is still up for debate.

"It's very frustrating," said Gina Bobber, Holly Springs Planning and Development manager. "These are people that just moved into the town of Holly Springs, bought their dream home and now they're stuck with all this aggravation."

The town is working with the U.S. Postal Service and intends to send out surveys next month to the affected areas of Wake County. Residents will decide what ZIP code they want to live in.
