CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.C. — The search is on for a man accused of inappropriately touching a child at a day care in Cumberland County.

Authorities said Michael Zimmerman, 40, molested a 2-year-old girl over the summer at his girlfriend's day care. Lora Tatum, who owns Lo Lo's Daycare, said she does not believe the allegation made against her boyfriend.

Authorities plan to charge Zimmerman with taking indecent liberties with a child and first-degree sex offense. Zimmerman also uses an alias name of Michael Bater.

More than 25 children attend the day care, ranging in age from newborn to 12 years old. Some parents said they still trust the center.

"I have no complaints with Miss Lo Lo. My child is one of the children who come in the morning, who's very happy to come in and he cried every afternoon when I come to pick him up," parent Celena Turner said.

The day-care center is a licensed three-star facility. Investigators are not sure whether the recent allegation will affect its rating.

Investigators said Zimmerman is from Anson County. They also believe he may have lived with Tatum, but she denies that. Authorities said he does not have a prior criminal record.
