WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators in Wayne County are looking for a suspect in a deadly shooting.
Deputies were called to a mobile home in Dudley at 8:15 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, they found Billy Joe Gregory inside.
Gregory, 23, was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy revealed he died from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
A witness told investigators a man was seen running from the home after the shooting. A K-9 unit was unsuccessful in tracking the man.
