LEE COUNTY, N.C. — The state has decided to seek the death penalty against a preacher accused of killing his wife.
Melvin Bynum is charged with murdering his wife, Marnita.
Investigators say he strangled her, stuffed her body in the trunk of her car, then dumped it in Richmond County.
A judge will decide later in October whether the case meets the criteria for a capital case.
