FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville has a new fire chief.
The city manager appointed Benjamin Nichols as chief of the city's fire department.
Nichols served as interim chief since the retirement of former Chief James Hall in November 2003.
Nichols said one of his goals is to form partnerships with Fayetteville businesses to train people how to prevent fires.
