Henderson Man Sentenced To Life For Bookkeeper's Murder

Posted Updated

OXFORD, N.C. — A Henderson man has been sentenced to life without parole for murdering a retired bookkeeper.

Marcel Johnson was facing a possible death sentence, but he accepted a plea deal.

In February, authorities say Johnson broke into Mary Brummitt's home, beat her, tied her up and stole some of her property.

Brummitt died from injuries during the assault.
