Hillsborough Police Investigate Shooting

Hillsborough police and the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning.

HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Hillsborough police and the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning.

Police were dispatched at about 6:11 a.m. to 145 Hayes St. for a domestic disturbance call. While officers were en route, shots were fired at the location, authorities said.

When officers arrived at the scene at about 6:15 a.m, they found Jaquienton Deshawn Sellars, 21, of Raleigh, shot in the abdomen.

Sellars was taken to Duke Medical Center, where he died.

Police Lt. Charles White said the shooting appeared to the result of a failed robbery, but there was no information on the assailant.Sunday afternoon.

Residents in the area reported seeing a dark-colored, mid-sized vehicle in the area at about 6 a.m., the same time in which they also reported hearing gunshots.
