Police Seek Suspect In Murder Of Cary Woman

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — Cary police have a suspect in the death of a woman whose body was found behind an apartment complex.

Neighbors found 21-year-old Karla Chavez in a wooded area off Wrenn Drive Saturday afternoon. She had been stabbed several times and then dumped a few blocks down from her apartment.

Sunday, investigators charged Maria Mena, 29, with her murder. They still are looking for Mena -- she likely is driving a black Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

Anyone with information about Mena or her whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers or Cary police.
