DURHAM, N.C. — A 3-year-old girl has been found after being kidnapped when gunmen in Durham carjacked a vehicle with her in the back seat.

A dark blue, 1995 Chevrolet Lumina was carjacked at gunpoint in northeast Durham at 8:30 p.m.

A motel employee spotted the girl walking alone along Interstate 85 in Mebane about two hours later.

Mebane police Corporal C.Y. Wheeler said the child apparently had been abandoned in the dark and rain near an interstate exit and appeared unharmed.

Police said the two men forced a woman out of her four-door Chevrolet at Washington and Geer streets in East Durham. The men apparently did not know a child was in the back seat.

The men remained at large Saturday night.

Law enforcement agencies were told to look for the stolen vehicle with North Carolina license plate number

RZW 1184.

The two suspects are black males about 6 feet tall who were wearing white T-shirts and blue jeans. Their heads were covered with black do-rags.

One of the men was armed with a handgun.

The phone number for the public to call with information is
