Raleigh K-9 Cop Injured In Accident Dies

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Raleigh Police Department says "Nero," a member of the K-9 unit, died of injuries he received Tuesday night.

Nero, who was the partner of Officer K.A. Adams, had been transported to the Veterinary Specialty Hospital in Cary after being struck by a vehicle during a training exercise on Centennial Parkway at 8:10 p.m.

The vehicle did not stop.

After being stabilized, Nero was transported to the North Carolina State University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Nero was a 4-year-old Belgian Malinois who had been with the Raleigh Police Department for two years.
