HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — A man accused of a violent home invasion will spend at least the next 15 years in jail.

Michael Blackwell pleaded guilty Tuesday to kidnapping, armed robbery and assault charges.

Orange County prosecutors said Blackwell broke into a home in 2002, attacked and severely beat a woman, then tied her up.

Blackwell then stole the victim's sport utility vehicle and led officers on a chase through Orange and Durham counties.
