MICRO, N.C. — A bus wreck on northbound Interstate 95 near the town of Micro left many of its passengers injured on Thursday.
According to Johnston County officials, the accident happened about 4:45 p.m. A bus driven by Willie Owens of Virginia Beach was taking a dance group from Myrtle Beach, S.C., to New York City when it ran off the northbound lanes and hit a tree before crashing into an embankment.
Most of the people on board were teenagers.
Twenty of the 25 people on board were said to have minor injuries. The driver was seriously injured.
Most of the injured were taken to local hospitals, including Wilson Memorial, Johnston Memorial and Pitt County Memorial in Greenville.
The bus is owned by Venture Tours out of Cheasapeke, Va.
