Teen girl hides in closet while thieves ransack Rocky Mount home

"My life practically flashed before my eyes," she said. "I was so scared."

Brown was home alone at 2216 Meadowbrook Road around 9 a.m. when she heard a knock at the door. The next thing she heard was a loud noise coming from the back of the house. 

Someone was breaking in.

"They had knocked the TV down. All this stuff was knocked down," she said. 

She dashed into the closet, crouched in a corner and covered herself with a blanket. Then, she dialed 911.

"I was talking real soft, and my phone – it's an Android – you could hear the noise," she said. "I was trying to cover it because you could hear it."

Brown said she saw four men rummaging room to room, stealing her family's things. When they came across her Pekingese named Little Bit, Brown said, one of the men kicked the dog into the bathroom.

"I was like, 'Oh Lord, they hurt my dog.' I was still scared for my life. I'm sitting here praying to God," she said.

She said she hung up on 911 when the men got close to the closet. When the 911 center called her back, Brown said, the men fled the home.

They ran first to their car, but officers were beginning to arrive on the scene by then, so the thieves ran into a nearby wooded area and got away, police said.

Police have identified one suspect as Delasio Tiyez Wiggins, 23, of Rocky Mount. They did not know who the others were, and no arrests had been made as of Thursday afternoon.

Brown said she hopes they arrest all four men quickly, before they victimize someone else.

"I really want them to be in jail right now," she said. "I really would."
