RALEIGH, N.C. — Police have arrested a second person in connection with a deadly shooting on Capital Boulevard Sunday morning.

Leonard Bland, 23, of Zebulon, was shot to death while sitting in a sport utility vehicle at the intersection of Capital Boulevard and Starmount Drive.

Tuesday, officers arrested Ellison Davis, 22, of Raleigh, and charged him with accessory after the fact to murder. Police allege Davis helped Jermaine Johnson, the suspected gunman, avoid detection and arrest.

A day earlier, Howard Pierce, 26, was charged with accessory to murder. He is being held in the Wake County Jail on $500,000 bond.

Police have issued arrest warrants for Johnson, 22, who remains at large.
