Durham Man Charged With Murder

Posted Updated

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police investigators on Tuesday arrested Michael Wayne Goldston, charging him with murder in the Feb. 3 shooting death of 24-year-old Nathan Alston on South Roxboro Street.

Goldston, 22, of 2718 Enfield Drive was placed in Durham County Jail without bond.

Goldston was arrested on Weaver Street by an officer with the Police Department's Public Housing Unit and charged with trespassing. He was then brought to Police Headquarters and questioned about the homicide.

Alston was shot several times in front of his apartment at 2507 South Roxboro Street and died a few hours later.

In February, investigators arrested 19-year-old Roy Bodden Jr. and charged him with murdering Alston. Police believe the shooting may have been drug-related.

Goldston is currently on probation after being convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon and other charges in 2003. He is also a participant in the Durham STARS program, which targets violent repeat offenders.
