According to Sgt. Jorge Brewer, spokesman for the state Highway Patrol, Kimberly C. Davis, 36, of 5530 Talserwood Drive in Raleigh, caused the head-on collision.

Five people from the other car were taken to WakeMed, where an infant, 8-month-old Casandra Gandarilla, was declared dead. Karen Martinez, 19, Juan Guzman, 53, Rosa Martinez, 51, and Brian Gandarilla, 4, were still in the hospital Saturday night.
