I-95 Reopens After Tractor-Trailer Hits Guardrail, Overturns

Traffic was flowing on Interstate 95 in Halifax County late Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer accident closed the southbound lanes for a few hours.

ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — Traffic was flowing on Interstate 95 in Halifax County late Wednesday morning after a tractor-trailer accident closed the southbound lanes for a few hours.

The accident occurred in the southbound lanes shortly after 6 a.m. Wednesday near Roanoke Rapids.

According to authorities, a tractor-trailer carrying plastic coat hangers lost control of its load and hit another tractor-trailer parked on the side of the road. A third tractor-trailer was also involved in the accident.

Sebastian Brewer of Rocky Mount was charged with careless and reckless driving and failure to maintain lane control. No one was injured.

Crews were able to reopen both southbound lanes at around 10 a.m.
