Princeville To Get Recount

Posted Updated

PRINCEVILLE, N.C. — The town of Princeville will soon recount its residents, thanks to a $60,000 grant.

The town manager says a census taken six months after Hurricane Floyd suggested less than 1,000 residents lived in the town, but he claims the town actually has more than 2,000 residents.

Leaders say low census numbers are costing the town nearly $300,000 a year in state and federal funding.
