Panhandling After Dark No Longer Allowed In Durham

DURHAM, N.C. — Panhandling between sunset and sunrise will soon be off-limits in the Bull City.

The Durham City Council approved an ordinance banning nighttime begging and makes it a misdemeanor.

Council members say a concern for public safety is behind the measure.

The ban goes into effect next week.
