CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross aim to collect 1,000 pints of blood Wednesday.
The
16th Annual Carolina Blood Drive
takes place at the Dean E. Smith Center until 6 p.m.
This is the largest, single day blood drive in the nation, according to the Orange County chapter.
There will be entertainment, food from over 50 local restaurants and giveaways for donors.
A total of 1,031 units of blood were donated last year.
Blood supplies are critically low across the region.
