SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. — Autopsy results show a young mother found dead along Interstate 40 was severely beaten before she was dragged by a car and later run over.
Authorities found Merritt Ennis' body in Sampson County in May. Her boyfriend, Derrick Canaday is charged with her murder.
Court records show Ennis filed an assault complaint against Canaday in April, but she dropped the charges.
