VANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The man credited with improving the Vance County Animal Control program is expected to face criminal charges.

Vance County District Attorney Sam Currin is pushing for a grand jury indictment against Johnny Jones.

Currin said Jones ignored a court order to destroy a dangerous pit bull. The dog turned up alive in another county.

The dog is now being held as evidence at the Granville County animal shelter.
