Kendra Lively was overcome with emotion Thursday after seeing a lifetime of memories spread out on a police department table.
"Most of it was inherited from my grandmother. That was the most meaningful, and a lot of it was given to me by my mom that my dad had given her," she said.
Lively's valuables were part of thousands of dollars in stolen property recovered by Raleigh police. Police are not saying much about the robberies or the suspect in custody. However, they said the goods were taken during a string of burglaries beginning in March 2004.
"We started noticing a trend back in the early days of March that townhouses are being broken into, and entry was made by prying a rear window and door," said Lt. Rick Grayson, of the Raleigh Police Department. "They would make entry and steal the items we have here."
Police have one person in custody, but they have not released his identity. They also said they are looking for two others.
If you think your property was taken, you can view these items Friday at the District 22 station on Litchford Road. After that, they will be tagged as evidence.
